Three-Fans Head, Chinese (1540)
It is one of the four most famous boats of China. It has been up to now a relatively well preserved and excellently performed fishing boat in the Yangtse River Valley.

Sphinx, French (1829)
It was a kind of paddle steamer fitted on each side of the vessel. The two paddles were driven by the on-board steam engine to repeatedly beat the water which forced the vessel to move in an opposite direction.
