The Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand, especially the Hmong Tribe, are excellent weavers of hemp fabric.
The hemp being offered here is referred to as "Pakencha Yang Dee" meaning the finest weave of the hemp material. This hemp fabric is not the coarse wide weave sometimes seen in hemp garments, but a very tight weave making it an excellnet fabric for many styles of fashion.
Another term used for this type of hemp is called "Thick-N-Tied". These rolls are over 7 yards in length and 13 inches wide, and come in a wide assorment of dyed colors as well as the natural hemp color as shown below..
The photo shows a spinning wheel which the Hilltribe people use when spinning the raw hemp to be finally woven into the fabric that is being offered here on the Portal Market.
The Portal Market is offering this hand woven hemp with a minimum order of 10 rolls. The hemp is special ordered and a waiting time of two weeks is needed to make sure the hemp is dyed and delivered. A small swatch can be sent if you want to feel the quality of the weave.
Below are the various colors of hemp that are being offered, and a photo of the various colors when made into shirts. Naturally, many types of garments can be made from this excellent material.
