The Thailand Hemp and Silk Co., Ltd was established in November 1999 in Chang Mai, Thailand between the Portal Market, based in San Francisco, and the Supaporn family of Chang Mai. Standing left to right in the photograph is Captain Suntorn Nuchairam, their son Tanakorn Rathapipalnobai, and MaMa Sun. MaMa Sun is the original creator of the Hill Tribe Hemp and Laotian antique Silk trim robes that are so popular in finer fashion circles. The Portal Market is an outlet for these beautiful garments and accessories here in the United States and around the world.
