The theme of Grimes' "Landscape Scuptures" is the integration of nature and the landscape to express how natural forces interact with forms, figure, and the human creative spirit. These "Landscape Sculptures" provide a Feng Shui addition for the purpose of adding a garden accent in order to "move and lift the energy" of natural spaces.
It is the intention of these pieces to depict the movement of energy as action, motion, and even implied motion. The ability to place these stellar forms that move within the naturalistic setting has been the main thrust of Grimes' work.
The current piece shown above is titled the "Spiral Breath".
"Spiral Breath"
This piece depicts the energetic pattern of the movement of CHI (breath energy) through the human form - during focused yoga/meditation/altered states of awareness.
The simultaneous movement of Clockwise/Counter-clockwise energy - as CHI moves up and down the spine and through the (CHAKRA SYSTEM).
This Kinetic sculpture presents an optical illusion as the colors (Patina) in the steel rotate/alternate as the sculpture spins with movement of wind (breath). The curvilinear bands contrast with rigid interior steel rod framework. The piece illicits movement, energy, force, presence, symmetry, continuity, and spirit.
