Carmela Tal-Baron is a New York based artist, designer and poet. Her interdisciplinary work seeks to explore and express the five senses and their relationship to visual imagery, sound, movement and poetry, the four pillars of synesthesia (the interrelationship of our senses and the four art disciplines), their healing energies and contribution to a planetary culture that promotes peace and dialogue. A graduate of the Bezalel academy for Arts and Crafts in Jerusalem, she also studied at the Arts Students League, Parsons School of Design, and the School for Visual Arts in New York City. She has exhibited widely, has published and illustrated poetry and childrens' books, and has created interdisciplinary environmental events. Her work has won awards and citations, including the Sharet Foundation Award for Drawing, the Tel Aviv Foundation for Literature and the Arts, the Amos Foundation for writers and scholars, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She defines her artistic enterprise Designs for Enlightenment, and her artistic mission as the enhancement of beauty, harmony, peaceful coexistence and spiritual growth.
