Archetypes and Symbols

The use of Archetypal Symbols for the New Millennium:
By Willard Van De Bogart

The new millennium is at hand, and the human species is experiencing unprecedented Earth changes, social changes, political changes, and most importantly deep personal changes. There is much discussion centering on a sense of time being accelerated. What this means is that all these changes are demanding humans to process their feelings, and their attitudes at an ever increasing rate of speed to prepare for the next set of changes.

At this time in human history there is a deep need to understand universal forces in nature, the deep emotional forces that make us respond the way we do, and an increased sense of the divine and sacred in the universe.

Modern cultures are not the only ones that have been concerned with how humans change in relation to the universal order. The Mayan culture of meso-america has been charting and mapping the cosmos for over 2,500 years. It was the Maya who have accurately predicted the end of the 26,000 year precessional cycle to occur in the year 2012 when on December 21, during Winter Solstice, the sun will align itself with the galactic center. With only 10 years remaining, the end cycle is being felt on many personal levels. Global transformation is being felt on many levels as well, and the deep emotional fabric of nation states is being revealed from Malaysia to Albania, and every country in between.

With so much change being predicted one can only wonder if there are any universal patterns of growth and understanding which we could turn to for our collective survival and growth before all of humanity begins a new golden era, a new world age, or a new galactic consciousness.

Ruby Lee has studied the Mayan glyphs for many years, and sees within their language, composed of 20 glyphs, deep archetypal imagery that can be used by us today. The Maya were the ultimate time travelers. Their numbering system, using the long count method, created a vast empire of observatories, ceremonial centers, and vast city-states, which honored their culture in relationship to the cosmos. Ruby's images draw on the deep archetypal meanings of the glyphs to aid us in balancing our own lives at this most significant time in human history.

Archetypes act as deep invisible energies that effect the human psyche. These archetypes have been expressed over the millenniums to try and understand who we are in this grand dance of moonbeams and stardust. The Maya with their glyph representation of the universal energies have been made accessible once again through a 10 year long search and execution of these universal archetypal forces. Each painting is rich in symbology, color, and human interaction. It is through Ruby Lee's visual interpretation of the 20 glyphs of the Maya that we can sense the profoundly deep forces that form the complex tapestry of our archetypal nature.

By focusing on each one of the 20 glyphs a new understanding of who we are as citizens of the galaxy comes to light, and we are empowered anew with a new sense of our human nature. By identifying with one or more archetypes we can better identify our own nature. Through Ruby Lee's portrayal of these archetypes we portray ourselves. We can, therefore, use these Mayan inspired archetypes as a guide to our own selfhood as well as preparing ourselves for being integrated into a new golden era, a galactic age of enlightenment.
