2012 Ceremony at Angkor Wat December 21, 2004
"The temples of Angkor were spiritual, political, cosmological, and astronomical or geophysical centers. They embodied and encapsulated the world spheres through which the Khmer culture and power structures moved, lived, and breathed. In their scope and conception alone, they are among the most spectacular of human achievements." - Eleanor Mannikker

There are six years left before the precession of the equinox cycles ends its 26,000 mile journey. The Maya end date in the sacred Tzolkin calender also ends on December 21, 2012.

When December 21, 2012 does arrive the solar meridian will cross the galactic equator aligning our solar system with the center of the galaxy. This celestial cyclical event was regarded by archaeastronomers as one of the most auspicious of all celestial events. The amount of scholarship that has been devoted to this celestial occurence would take many thousands of hours to properly digest from a mythical and a historical point of view.

The ancient Khmer Kings were very aware of this event and built into the Angkor Wat complex a very exact measuring system to track not only precessional cycles, but solar and lunar cycles as well. This year our tour will begin prior to the sunrise on December 21st. We will position ourselves in a designated spot to see how the sun rises over one of the outer four towers. This positioning will be honored by recognizing potential geophysical and socio-historical transformations that the entire planet is going through. After the sunrise we will journey to the central tower for a meditation on the powers that can be received and understood at this time as the planet journeys around the sun.
